Family Medical History

• Family medical history is a record of diseases and health conditions within an individual's family, including their own health history, as well as the health history of a patient's close relatives
• A patient's close relatives mean first, second, and third-degree relatives (parents, children, siblings, grandparents, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, great-grandparents, great-grandchildren, and so forth.
• A family tree of health information can help identify patterns of certain diseases or conditions within a family (for example sex-linked Inherited disease) and a person's risk of developing them.
• It also includes cause of death of close relatives and age at death
• Identifying risk factors of genetic linked disease is crucial for early detection and prevention of the conditions
